2. What Data We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal information:
- Account Information: Name, email address, and hashed password when you create an account.
- Uploaded Statements: Merchant processing statements (PDF or images) you upload for analysis. These contain fee summaries, transaction counts, and processor details.
- Analysis Results: Fee breakdowns, effective rates, and savings estimates generated from your statements.
- Billing Information: Payment details processed securely by Authorize.net. We do not store your credit card numbers on our servers.
- Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, and general interaction data to improve the service.
3. What We Do NOT Collect or Store
We never see, process, or store credit card numbers or cardholder data. Merchant processing statements contain fee summaries and transaction counts — not individual cardholder information. SkipRate is not a payment processor and does not handle PCI-regulated cardholder data.
4. How We Use Your Data
- To analyze your merchant processing statements and generate fee breakdowns and savings estimates.
- To manage your account and provide customer support.
- To process subscription payments via Authorize.net.
- To improve our analysis accuracy and service quality.
- To send transactional emails (account confirmations, billing receipts).
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate SkipRate:
- Anthropic (Claude AI): Statement data is sent to Claude for AI-powered fee analysis. Anthropic’s API does not use submitted data for model training.
- Authorize.net: Processes subscription payments securely. We do not store payment card details on our servers.
- Vercel: Hosts our web application and handles content delivery.
- Turso (libSQL): Stores account data, analysis results, and application state in an encrypted database.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
6. Data Retention
- Account data: Retained for as long as your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion request.
- Uploaded statements: Processed in memory for analysis. Raw uploads are retained for up to 90 days to support re-analysis, then automatically deleted.
- Analysis results: Retained for as long as your account is active so you can track savings over time.
- Billing records: Retained as required by tax and accounting regulations (typically 7 years).
7. Data Security
All data is transmitted using 256-bit TLS encryption. Our database is encrypted at rest. We follow industry-standard security practices including hashed passwords, secure session management, and access controls.
8. Your Rights Under CCPA (California Residents)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect and how it is used.
- Delete your personal information (subject to certain exceptions).
- Opt-out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
- Non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.

9. Cookies
We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
10. Children’s Privacy
SkipRate is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email. Continued use of SkipRate after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
